Okay, so I've been a little absent recently. You know what I blame? Spooks (or MI-5 as its known in America). I had S1, then my boyfriend recently got me S2 and S3, and then I got S4 with my birthday money.

It's an addiction---one I am beyond sick with. I've even gone so far as to hunt down the books that go along with the series. Like I said, sick.

In other news, hey---there's a picture of The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong at the top of my page! There's a good reason for that, I swear. Every so often, Ms. Armstrong has a contest via twitter to win a book signed by her. I, of course, being a big dorky fan, always enter these contests. And I finally won! I picked The Summoning (yes, I already own it, but who cares) for her to sign. I am BEYOND excited. I really love her as an author, and the Darkest Powers series is amazing so far.

And, thus, my dorky rant ends.

*waves* Hi, everyone! I know, I know, I've been noticeably absent from posting in my journal aka filling out memes while pretending to write witty/insightful entries. But, I was busy driving (well, sleeping while other people drove---mwahahahah) to Omaha for our family reunion. Yes, Omaha. What can I say, we're a crazy group of people (it's genetic), and this wasn't even the most random place that we've chosen for our little get-togethers.

Still, I had a lot of fun seeing everyone. I spoiled my two younger cousins, once again wishing that I had sisters. I gambled for the first time (I know, my first time should've been years ago), and lost thirty-dollars! Woot! And, my personal favorite story, was denied getting off the shuttle that went from our hotel to the old market until I found my parents because I was alone and the driver thought I was 14. *facepalm* I think I need to tattoo my birthdate on my forehead.

Here are my 5 favorite phrases that Dean says on 'Supernatural.' I warn you, while some of them are funny to all viewers, some of them are funny simply because I have a bizarre sense of humor :)

1. (Dean has been stuck in a hospital bed watching daytime TV):
"That fabric softener teddy bear... Ooh, I wanna hunt that little bitch down."    From the episode 'Faith'

2. Mrs. Carrigan (who, along with her husband, is torturing Dean and Sam): "Oh, you know what I say when I feel like swearing? Fudge."

Okay, so you were all expecting it. Melissa's "Farewell ER" post. I spent three hours tonight watching the behind the scenes discussion with cast and crew about the ER journey, as well as the season finale. And all I can say is...

I want more .

I know, I know. How selfish of me, right? I've been watching the show since the 6th season aired (though I have seen all of the earlier seasons as well)---meaning I've gotten nine years of ER greatness. Years of watching Carter, crying whenever he cried simply because Noah Wyle is just that amazing. Years of adoring Luka and Abby, sighing with relief when the writers finally allowed them to get married. Years of hating Romano and Weaver, only to eventually like Weaver...and still hate Romano. Years of laughing at scenes that I shouldn't (Anyone remember Romano and the helicopter? Or how about Ray and the truck? Anyone?). And years of being glued to the TV on Thursday, often finding myself in tears by the end of the hour.

Bye ER. You'll be missed (but fondly remembered in my DVD collection).

Guy of the Day: Tahmoh Penikett (He has been all over the TV this weekend...)

The "10 Things About Me" meme is running rampant on LJ. So I figured I would share my answers with all 4.5 of you, my blog readers, as things have been quiet here on the...blog front. So...

1. I go through phases with TV shows. That's not to say I'm not constantly addicted to my faves, cuz I am. I just go through phases of watching them. Right now, I'm in a Higher Ground phase. Gah, I miss that show.

2. Despite the fact that I am 22, I love YA literature. I get really upset when other adults dismiss YA lit as nothing more than multiple versions of Gossip Girl. Some of the BEST works I have ever read are YA. "The Summoning" by Kelley Armstrong. "Old Magic" by Marianne Curley. Scott Westerfeld, Neal Shusterman, Kevin Brooks, Libba Bray....these are some of the finest writers of our time.

3. I have the habit of dancing in public when a really good song comes on my i-pod

4. I am obsessed with going for walks outside. It's really hard living in the Midwest because of how harsh our winters are--kinda hard to walk when there's half a foot of snow But as soon as spring comes, I'm out the door walking around the block as much as possible.

5. I have a fake phobia of hay because it's funny and a great conversation piece during hayrides. I have a real phobia of clowns (which my father thinks is funny---he keeps threatening to put statues of them in my room when I'm not home) and Leoben from Battlestar Galactica. Dude is creepy.

6. I used to hate the smell of most flowers, particularly roses. I've lost a lot of people in my life, starting at the age of 5, and I always connected the smell of roses with funerals. My boyfriend Leo has changed all of this. He's given me so many roses, so many flowers in general, that I now tie the smell of them to him and the memories he's given me.

7. I love sprinkles, to the point where I'm sure an intervention is already being planned. No, I don't eat them on their own, but I do pile them on things like frozen yogurt and sherbet. The people at Baskin Robbins fear me because they know, in one visit, I can take out their entire supply. Mwahahaha.

8. While my favorite song ever is 'Is Jesus Your Pal?' by Gus Gus, I currently cannot stop listening to 'Nowhere to Now-here' by The Kin. It's wicked addictive.

9. A reviewer of a play I was in wrote that I looked like Natalie Portman. Within days, it was on a Natalie Portman website and her fans were discussing whether or not I looked like her. It was hilarious.

10. And the grand finale. The thing that will reveal so much about me, it will make you understand my very essence, my very soul...

My checks have Peanuts characters on them. :)

Speaking of blasts from the past, I was listening to the radio on the way home from Chi-town with me mum and Ace of Base came on. That's right, don't pretend you weren't a fan. You had their tape, just like I did. You saw the sign and it opened up your eyes, you saw the sign. Anyway, their song "All That She Wants is Another Baby" came on and, somehow, I remembered all the words to the first verse.

Yeah.

Even I was scared.

Another Year Begins...

Hey, all! Happy New Year! I know it's been a while since my last post, but between finals and Christmas, things have been insane. Still all's well that ends well, right? I got straight As (yays!) and I only have one semester to go (thank God). As for Christmas, it was amazing. It was the first one I spent with Leo and I couldn't have imagined it being any better---though he did completely spoil me with presents!!! What a troublemaker.

Speaking of presents, one of the things he got me didn't come in on time, so he gave it to me yesterday.

You guys won't even be able to guess.

My brain goes numb just thinking about it.

I still can't believe it.

But I digress (at least in my blog--in my mind, I'm still squealing like a small child). Back to yesterday. My parents wanted to have a small party with some of their friends. I invited Leo to come over and hang, and we all had a blast. We ate food, talked a lot about the military (we had four different generations of men from four different branches!), played games, drank champagne, and laughed hysterically. PS---Leo cheats at the card game Spoons. But that's only because he's terrible at it.

As for today, it's been pretty chill and a lot of fun. I hung out with Leo this morning, going to Mass and walking the mall. And then, after one of the best naps ever, I played video games with Richard and Stephen. I haven't played video games all night since I was like...twelve. But I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed it! We played Ultimate Alliance and DC vs. Mortal Kombat. And let me tell you, I kicked some major ass. Oh, and both of them want to play again tomorrow!
